HOW TO CREATE AN OUTSTANDING BASKET OR CONTAINER

    • It all starts with a quality potting soil.  We use Pro Mix.
    • Next, is to use quality plants.  We use  many "proven winner" varieties.  They don't have to be dead headed to fill out and keep blooming all summer.  Supertunias are my favorite.  They come in many colors and you get a lot of flowers from one plant..
    • Proper watering.  Not too much in the spring, and plenty of water in the heat of summer.  If your plants are wilting, it's not enough.
    • You must fertilize.  It's the food for the plants.  We use "Daniels".  It's a liquid and mixes well.  You can give your baskets and containers a minimum of  once/week.  Or you can give "Daniels" every day!!  "Daniels" will not burn your plants, they will thrive.
    • Remember, we eat every day, your plants need to eat as well.  Feed your babies!!

    YOU CAN GROW THIS BASKET:

The first basket is freshly trimmed. I took it out of the greenhouse and hung it about mid May.

I added 4 Tablespoons of slow release from Proven Winner fertilizer.

The 2nd. basket is full grown in August. I never took them down because of the wind!  they just got too big.

I have my baskets on a timed drip system.  It comes on everyday for 1 hour.  It does a better job than hand watering, because the Pro Mix potting soil (in the basket) can better absorb the water at a slower rate than hand watering.

I add "Daniels" -name changed to "Nature's Source" - to every watering.  I use 1 Tablespoon to 1 gallon of water.

I have even used 2-3 Tablespoons to 1 gallon of water.  You will never burn your plants using "Nature's Source".

If you feel you don't have enough flowers on your basket, it could be because you are starving your flower containers.
